The Kadlik Family

Frank Kadlik and Mary Vavra Kadlik

What's in a name:  The spelling of this name evolved over the years and in different families.  When researching documents, we have learned to try all the various spellings for any of the family members.

Mary Vavra

Frank Kadlik  (Froliyan, Florián)

Update April, 2009  From the marriage certificate in the Bratislava archives, we learned that Frank's family name was Sprusansy.  Probably "Kadlik" was the nickname used for that family in Kutyš and that is the name he used when he immigrated to the US.

š Nick names in Kuty.  We have learned that families in Kuty usually have knick names to distinguish them from other families with the same last name.

Note:  From another marriage certificate, we learned that Florian also had a brother Martin,  who married Juliana Mrázová in Slovakia.

Their Story

Tell the story here

We welcome stories from the this Kadlik (Cadillic) family.

Fran Frizzell, the grand-daughter of Mary and Frank Kadlik has put much of their family tree on the genealogy website www.ancestry.com

Update May, 2008.  Over the last few years, Fran has put the whole Vavra family and  everybody who married into it on her family tree at ancestry.com.  She has also added many pictures.  It is a very rich resource for many families.  Family members who never new each other, met at ancestry.com.  Thank you Fran for your wonderful work!

Joseph Cadillic  (son of Mary and Frank) married  Catherine Louise O'Connell on August 1, 1925 in Schenectady, NY.

The attendants at their wedding were Joe's uncle and aunt, Thomas and Josephine Palkovic.  As often happens in big families, although Josephine was Joe's aunt, she was only five years older than he, so they, no doubt, were more like peers.                marriage document  (a pdf file)
