Matus Skoda and Anna Pavelka

Return to the Joseph Vavra Story

Here is a newspaper clipping from 1964 of the 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration of  Matus and Anna Skoda.

We wish to thank Ivan Faltejsek for this photo and some additional information about the family of Julia Skoda.
He also gave us information about Thomas Palkovic and the Skoda's in Frank Hesek's family.

Matus Skoda died in 1973.  Anna died in 1969.  They are buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Natick, MA 68/25A.  [Information provided by the sexton of the cemetery in July, 2008]  See their website at http://www.stpatsnatick.org/

Update:  3/15/2009 from Fran Frizzell:  Skoda/Sprusansky/Kadlik

I found a 1930 census which shows Matus Skoda as a boarder in the home of a Yallie Sprusansky (I think this should be Wallie--short for Wallent Sprusansky). Matus was 42 at the time, married-- and had immigrated in 1920 and was born in Czechoslovakia.

Yallie Sprusansky lived at 11 Harrison St., in Natick--was married to Helen--age 30--and had 2 children.

Lately I have been finding more connections to this Sprusansky family in Natick:

Update:  4/2009:  From marriage records in Kuty, we learned that Florian (Kadlik) is Sprusansky.  He also has a brother Martin who married Juliana Mrázová in Slovakia.
